Voting Records
Tracking integrity by tracking votes
The Goal: Create and maintain a voting record tracker that easily displays who is willing to compromise and find middle-ground for the sake of our country.
The Issue: Big business, industry, and special interests strategically track key votes of elected officials. These groups measure what matters to them, and they use vote tracking tools to determine their level of support as related to campaign contributions. "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours".
Americans are seeking elected officials who work for the common good to move our country forward together, but we have no tool to measure these acts of civility and compromise.
Potential Solution: Build a vote tracker and scorecard to capture the metrics of when and which elected officials cross the aisle. Crossing the aisle shows courage, integrity, and the ability to get things done.
This kind of transparency is needed and due. It will allow us "We the People," the bosses and hiring committee of our elected officials to recognize who is at work for the good of our country, and not driven by fear or reputation.
Example: To demonstrate how different groups view and track US Senators, below is an example of two vote tracking scorecards from groups often on opposing sides of issues.
Notice the flip in percentages from the two organizations (Labor v Business) of elected officials:
